INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

When developing and implementing a project, it is necessary to stop and reflect on any future investment in the short-term. It is important to ask yourself if spending millions of dollars or euros in local communications infrastructures and powerful servers installed in schools is sustainable, when the technological evolution constantly shows that within a few years all that technology will be outdated and obsolete. Ask yourself if you would undertake an investment in a few years´ time equal or similar to the first project in order to replace this and keep a digital education project alive.

If, on the other hand, the money is used for mobile digital classrooms, in balanced projects that are amortised over a period of years, sustainability is guaranteed. Thanks to the technology developed by our company, it is possible to use tablets and computers anywhere on the planet which have equal durability and technological innovation.

By implementing digital mobile classrooms with our CAP, that can guarantee the success of any educational project in any area without internet connectivity, as well as being more economical and allowing all teachers to use it, even if they have little or no technological training. Our technology is proven and used in thousands of devices around the world.

A digital mobile classroom can even be used while travelling on a bus, in any type of classroom, in the gym or even on the street. It is a revolution in digital education to have such a resource available today.

On the other hand, it is an obligation of governments to ensure the protection of minors on the Internet. Our Internet filter is the first to be acquired by a government to carry out that function in the students´ home when they return after school and have to use their tablets and laptops to do their homework. Our filter is always on, protecting minors at all times, both inside and outside of school, without reducing the speed of the Internet connection: it is a filter that resides in the device.

By using the Android operating system, we can ensure the best response from students and teachers, as Android is the operating system used in 80% of smartphones in the world.

We advise not to use systems with double boot, or dual boot as this can make a project unsafe and may cause confusion between the teachers and the tools that should be used in each case, depending on the computer and its´ operating system.

We are experts in open source operating systems or free software, and we support the use of these in projects, although we must reflect on what most teachers are using, and what will be the shortterm maintenance requirement of the operating system selected for the project.

DIGITAL MOBILE CLASSROOM

The introduction of technology in the classroom is both necessary and essential for education in the 21st century. It is undeniable that it provides innovative learning experiences and methods different from those of the 19th and 20th centuries. The numerous projects carried out at the end of the 20th century and beginning of the 21st century have demonstrated the need to integrate and have control tools over devices, classroom control software, device management (MDM), internet content filters, parental control, etc.

With the change of technology in network cards and no longer having to use cable connectivity in order to use a Wi-Fi network, we have seen the need to develop software tools that can effectively manage this network. There are many projects that have failed because they do not have these aspects sorted out and a level of service guaranteed.

One can only imagine the difficulties of having to install an application in 1000 tablets one by one. This would be an expensive job and would take a lot of time, many hours, or even days. However, using our MDM this task only takes a few minutes.

The great progress made by our company has been to integrate all of these software tools into the hardware (tablets and CAP), making digital education possible as well as safe anywhere in the world. All this is possible as we have developed an off-line MDM, that is, the tablets receive orders and usage policies directly from a computer without the need for having internet at any time. We should not forget that the greatest weakness of these type of projects is the infrastructure in communications and civil works, which results in a lack of Internet and electricity in schools.

Teachers need help and support in order to face the new challenges of the 21st century. Using our tools, they can devote all their time and effort to teach their students, who will be the next generation of citizens of their country, and they need this technology to work without any complications. In many projects in different countries it has been proven that, without simple control tools, teachers can become discouraged and abandon projects. Our tools are simple and are aimed at 100% of teachers and are not just intended for the small percentage of these who have computing knowledge.

Digital Educational Content

Content can basically be divided into two types: curricular and support.

Curricular: In one-to-one projects, where a tablet will be given to each student and heavy paper books will be replaced by digital books, we recommend that these be integrated into the tablets, in order to achieve greater speed of access for the students. It is important to bear in mind that the price of the digital book is considerably lower than the paper book.

Support content: in projects where the tablets will be used within a Digital Mobile Classroom and will be used principally to reinforce and provide support to students in all subjects that are considered strategically necessary. This type of content will be hosted on the CAP. The content will be maintained and updated from the Elearning tool. The specific applications of each area will be installed and managed from the device manager with
our MDM Off-line, directly to the tablets without having to touch the files and without needing an Internet connection. A widely used example is to only use tablets for teaching mathematics.

Cybersecurity and Child Protection

The protection of children in any network is fundamental and is their right as well as that of their families. Many projects are criticised and fail because they do not have adequate security in terms of Internet filtering. Our solution incorporates Escudo Web®, the renowned Internet filter acquired, among others, by the Government of Extremadura as a Parental Control tool, aimed at the protection of all its students.

Previous Failures

Numerous projects in governments of many countries, as well as in regional governments in Spain, failed because they did not have any classroom control tool that worked with the first Wi-Fi mini notebooks. There are thousands of these devices still in their boxes after several years.

Other projects, however, have failed due to having tools that are too complicated and where too little training was given to teachers.

There are currently hundreds of thousands of devices blocked by anti-theft systems, as these are not designed for usage without an internet connection.

A Complete and Fit-for-purpose Solution

Acquiring a complete and balanced solution has proven to be the fastest and most effective way to implement a project. Often technology is acquired from different manufacturers or suppliers that later turn out to be incompatible with each- other. It is important to use technology that has been proven in difficult environments, since most devices and products are developed for urban areas which are highly developed technologically, then when taken to rural areas or with poor infrastructure are completely useless.

fit-for-purpose

In short, while it may seem more expensive at first, in reality it is much cheaper because the technology is used to its full potential instead of being stored somewhere or locked away in school cupboards.

Our solution is sustainable, balanced, proven and above all universal in its application, it is developed to be used by everyone in all types of spaces and places.
